Meadowood is an established and comfortable neighborhood located on Madison’s Southwest side. It is close to several parks, and is served by the Madison Metropolitan School District.
Its boundaries are Hammersley Road, Crabapple Lane and Raymond Road on the north, Rae Lane, South Whitney Way and city limits on the east, city limits and Monticello Way on the south, and Prairie Road on the west.
The Meadowood Neighborhood Association was organized on July 11, 1958, with the stated purpose to “work for community betterment,” and to “promote fellowship.”
To that end, Meadowood residents have created a number of organizations and activities over the years. For example, they worked with several groups to open the Southwest Community Farmer’s Market at Orchard Ridge United Church. And they helped establish the Meadowood Neighborhood Center near South Whitney Way and Raymond Road in the Meadowood Shopping Center.
And, among other things, it established Meadowood Community Garden in a small park bordered by Balsam, Leland and Thrush Roads.
